Lindfield East Public School, Sydney, Australia

Hello fellow tooth counters …
Here in “the land downunder” (Sydney, NSW, Australia) we have finally
finished our summer holidays and returned to school. The weather is
still very hot! The children have been placed into classes and we’re
almost ready to start counting teeth!
Lindfield East Primary School is a large school with about 720 children.
The school is about half an hour drive north of our capital city,
Sydney. We have five year 1 classes – all taking part in the Tooth Tally
Project. I am the specialist computer teacher and I work with the class
teacher when the children have computer lessons. This is the second year
we have taken part in the Tooth Tally and last year it was really
fabulous. We all learnt a lot about going to school in another country.
Soon, my class will send you their first email to introduce themselves
and we’ll tell you all about us then.
It will be great to get to know you during the next three months and I
hope it’s going to be fun comparing year 1 life - and teeth - in our
schools.

Dear
buddies
Here are some photos of our class. We have 23 children in our class, 10
girls and 13 boys.
Our teacher’s name is Mrs Green; she is going to have a baby very soon.
It is a baby girl. We are very excited for Mrs Green and we hope she
brings the baby to school to visit us. Our new teacher when Mrs Green is
looking after her baby will be Ms Malhas. Our computer teacher is Mrs
Hill.
Our school uniform is blue, the girls wear a dress and the boys wear a
shirt and shorts. It is a hot, sunny day at our school and we have to
make sure to wear our hats outside or we are not allowed to play. Our
playground has games painted on it; we are sitting near our snakes and
ladders game.
We are sitting on the steps outside our classroom. Can you see our
school bags hanging on hooks?

We are interested in learning about your schools and seeing your photos.

Dear Tooth
Tally Buddies,
In our class we have lost 2 teeth, both by boys! The girls aren’t very
wiggly!
Mrs Hecht, the very big hail storm was in Canberra, the capital of
Australia. It is not near us. We also had a storm here, just when the
bell went to go home, but it wasn’t as bad as that one.
Love from 1JG, Mrs Hill and Mrs Green (whose last day is today!!)

Dear
Buddies,
Mrs Hill is writing this email because we don’t have any more computer
lessons until after our school holidays. Our class has lost 6 teeth in
March. Boys: 3 Girls: 3 Nice and even!
Last week we had Harmony Day in our school. We all dressed up in clothes
from our heritage. We had morning tea with our buddy class, saw the
Chinese Dragon dance, a Mexican dance, a Chinese mermaid dance, a
Japanese dance, and Pacific Islander dances. At the end, all of the boys
had to stand up to do the Maori Haka and the girls did a Hawaiian dance.
Some photos are attached.

On Wednesday we are having a crazy hair day to raise money for kids with
leukaemia. We will send a photo to show you.
We are going on holidays at the end of this week. We will be back in two
weeks.
