GROUP 3 - 1EC
Lindfield East Public School, Sydney, Australia

30/1/07
Hello fellow tooth counters …
Here in “the land downunder” (Sydney, NSW, Australia) we have finally
finished our summer holidays and returned to school. The weather is
still very hot! The children have been placed into classes and we’re
almost ready to start counting teeth!
Lindfield East Primary School is a large school with about 720 children.
The school is about half an hour drive north of our capital city,
Sydney. We have five year 1 classes – all taking part in the Tooth Tally
Project. I am the specialist computer teacher and I work with the class
teacher when the children have computer lessons. This is the second year
we have taken part in the Tooth Tally and last year it was really
fabulous. We all learnt a lot about going to school in another country.
Soon, my class will send you their first email to introduce themselves
and we’ll tell you all about us then.
It will be great to get to know you during the next three months and I
hope it’s going to be fun comparing year 1 life - and teeth - in our
schools.

Dear
Buddies
Our school is called Lindfield East Public School and we have over 700
children. We are near Sydney in Australia. Our class teacher is Mrs
Conway and our computer teacher is Mrs Hill. They are the best teachers
in the world!
It is summer here and we wear short sleeved uniforms to school. The boys
wear a blue shirt and grey shorts and the girls wear a blue and white
checked dress. We are not allowed to play outside unless we wear our
hats. You can see our uniforms in the photos we are sending you.
Our lunch seats are under a very big tree and our playground has games
painted on it. We are sitting on the steps outside our classroom; can
you see our bags hanging in the background?

Dear Tooth
Tally Buddies,
We lost 3 teeth in March, 2 by girls and 1 by a boy. Claire and Xavier
both lost their teeth at home, and Isobel lost hers at school in an art
lesson. Luckily she didn’t get any paint on it!
Today is crazy hair day at our school. We gelled, spiked, sprayed,
braided, sparkled, teased, glittered and umbrella’ed our hair to raise
money for the leukaemia foundation. We are sending our photos to show
you.
Our principal, Mrs Jeffreys is leaving tomorrow and it is the beginning
of our Easter school holidays. We are happy about the holidays but we
are sad because we will miss Mrs Jeffreys.
