Hello group!
My name is Kara York and I am a first grade teacher at Rebecca Minor Elementary in Lilburn, Georgia. Lilburn is about 30 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta in Gwinnett County. Minor Elementary is labeled a Title I school, and we just recently acquired the "Title I School with Distinction" title for making AYP for the past 3 years. We have about 1800 kids at Minor, and more coming in every day. The city that we are in is constantly growing, but we are located in the middle of a quiet subdivision. There is a lot of growth around us which is why our enrollment increases so much every year. I am a first year teacher, having recently graduated from Kennesaw State University in May. I have 17 kids that are very, very diverse! I have students from Cambodia, China, South America, and the Turks and Caicos.

Can't wait to start counting teeth!  Kara York

Hello All!
We have had a not so busy month for losing our teeth.......none were lost! The funny thing is, Lovelle lost a tooth yesterday, so we're starting the month of March off strong!!! When we lose a tooth, we get to write our name on the graph on our calendar board, and then we get to wear a really cool necklace we put our tooth in.

We read the book Dr. De Soto and then compared how our dentist is like the dentist in the book. We also drew our pictures of what we thought the Tooth Fairy looked like, some were very creative!

We have lost 4 teeth this month, with many more to come!!! A lot of the kids are wiggling their teeth a lot, so they are really hoping more fall out after Spring Break. 2 were girls and 2 were boys. Have a great Spring Break (for those of you on break next week)!!!
