Tooth Tally Home

GROUP 2 - 1FR

Maxwell Elementary, Montgomery, Alabama

Hello from the Heart of the South, Montgomery Alabama! I teach 15 first graders at Maxwell Air Force Base. We have parents in all armed forces here on our base, most of which go to different officers' training schools here. We are a preschool-6th grade school, with a 50% turnover each year! We never know which grade we will be teaching or lately if we will be teaching! We are funded through the Department of Defense and our budget was drastically cut due to the war. Two of the dads are in Iraq right now.

We have been so busy this year reading and losing teeth! I have lots of snaggle-toothed kids. We enjoyed singing for our parents at Christmas and of course we sang "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth".

We are also looking for a snow day but rarely get one here. Our weather changes on a daily basis during the winter- either very cold or too warm. My kids wore flip-flops last week and today we have a fire going! Anyway I was born here and love it.

I love hearing from all of you all over the world – how exciting to have the Australian class! I will send a picture of our class soon.

It’s so good to hear from you and it will be exciting to lean more about Australia. We are studying space and weather so it will be interesting to compare our locations/climates on the earth.

We used Google Earth to look up your school—can you send me a street name? I found our school-did you get it? Here's Maxwell AFB Elementary School, Montgomery, Alabama:

We lost 2 teeth in February. We have lots of loose teeth so maybe March will better.

I have 2 students that are Tooth Kings-boys who have not lost any teeth! They love being our Tooth Kings while everyone else is cashing in on the Tooth Fairy.

March winds did not bring our teeth out! We lost two this month, 1 boy and 1 girl. We have lots of loose teeth so I feel that we will have an explosion soon-hopefully our last month to tally together!
