Lindfield East Public School, Sydney, Australia

Hello fellow tooth counters …
Here in “the land downunder” (Sydney, NSW, Australia) we have finally
finished our summer holidays and returned to school. The weather is
still very hot! The children have been placed into classes and we’re
almost ready to start counting teeth!
Lindfield East Primary School is a large school with about 720 children.
The school is about half an hour drive north of our capital city,
Sydney. We have five year 1 classes – all taking part in the Tooth Tally
Project. I am the specialist computer teacher and I work with the class
teacher when the children have computer lessons. This is the second year
we have taken part in the Tooth Tally and last year it was really
fabulous. We all learnt a lot about going to school in another country.
Soon, my class will send you their first email to introduce themselves
and we’ll tell you all about us then.
It will be great to get to know you during the next three months and I
hope it’s going to be fun comparing year 1 life - and teeth - in our
schools.

Hello
everyone
Our school is Lindfield East Public School. We are near Sydney in
Australia. Our class has 24 students and our school has about 700
children. Our class teacher is Miss Johnson and our computer teacher is
Mrs Hill.
The weather is hot because we have had summer, so we wear short sleeves
to school. The boys wear blue shirts and the girls wear blue and white
dresses. At our school we have a library, a computer room, a hall, a
canteen, a tennis court, an art room, a sick bay and basketball court.
Some of the rules we have to follow at our school are: no running, no
being a bully, no talking when the teacher is talking and put your
rubbish in the bin.
We like to learn maths, handwriting, art, spelling, computer, doing
sport, going to the library and choosing books to read. We like to go to
singing lessons and we have homework to do every day. We enjoy going on
school excursions. We have assembly in the hall every two weeks.
We are sending you a picture of our class in the computer room.

Hi everyone,
We will tell you how many teeth our class has lost in March. Aiofe,
Declan, Naomi, Grace and Christopher all lost one tooth each, a total of
five teeth. Boys: 2 Girls: 3
We had Harmony Day two weeks ago. All the children dressed up in our
heritage costumes. We saw the Chinese dragon dance, Japanese dancers,
Pacific Islanders dancers, Mexican dancers and Chinese mermaid dancers.
At the end, all the boys did the Haka from New Zealand and the girls did
a Hula dance. Some pictures are attached.

On Wednesday we are having a crazy hair day to raise money for leukaemia
research. We can make our hair crazy by using hair spray, gel, pigtails
or a wig. We bring a gold coin to donate.
