CONCLUSIONS FROM MR MITCHELL'S INTERVIEWAfter looking at the answers we gathered from our interview with Mr Mitchell we have written some feedback that we have learned about what he has done to help our school save water. Mr Mitchell only waters the lawn once a week on Mondays so that it doesn’t get over watered. He also takes advantage of the heavy rains that we occasionally have and doesn’t water the following day. To make sure that half an hour a day with the two sprinklers isn’t too much Mr Mitchell checks them after every half hour of their shift. Mr Mitchell has also installed shut-off nozzles on all the hoses so that we effectively save water in all corners of the school, even hoses. After a year of tending and looking after our beautiful garden he has used around 100kg of environmentally friendly fertiliser pellets which is a fair amount to keep it in shape and nice and healthy. Mr Mitchell believes that saving water in our school is a very important priority that also saves money just as much as the water itself. Since we have water tanks installed throughout the school he constantly uses them during hot weather and as most of us know we are currently experiencing drought in large areas of Australia! Even just us students are helpful in looking after the schools leaking problems as we are the ones who visit the bathrooms and tell Mr Mitchell of any of those problems we encounter, but even so Mr Mitchell also runs regular checks of those areas too. Everything planted in this drought period are drought tolerant plants which means they will be able to persevere through these tough conditions and survive without much water and nutrition.
