Our Audience

Our website is for those interested in Ancient Egypt, particularly King Tutankhamen, a young pharaoh. Here you will find facts about his birth, childhood and his last days.

We made our website for children who need to learn about Ancient Egypt, our school community and people who want to see what great work children in public schools can do.

Our Site's Purpose

The purpose of this web site is to get more people interested in ancient Egyptian times including King Tut, his life and death. We also wanted to learn more about creating websites. When we heard that we had the opportunity to join the team, we joined the team straight away.

Benefits From Involvement In The Competition

We are all very glad we, as a team entered this competition as we all enjoyed the experience very much and learnt a lot about working together as a team.  Not only have we enjoyed learning many different facts about the scorched deserts of Egypt, and the fascinating information on King Tutankhamen but we had a lot of fun.

We have learnt a lot about making web pages and how the internet works.

Roles and Responsibilities

We all worked on the same page but in different groups on different things. Ben and Laura worked on the home page; Gina worked on the Introduction page. Cassandra, Laura, Alex, Georgia and Tom worked on the information pages, Jordan did the website designing, Ethan worked on the benefits and Sean and Laura M. worked on the About page. Laura W. was our fantastic artist.

All of us enjoyed working on this website even though we had some challenging times. Mrs Hill organised all of us so we couldn’t have done it without her. Miss Stanton helped support the team with her ideas and cooperation.

How the site was created

1. First we made a group of people (including our computer teacher Mrs Hill and Ms Stanton) who wanted to design a website. We also worked out which day everyone could meet up every week in our schools computer room.
2. Secondly, we did a vote for what subject we could use for our website also knowing that we had to fit our title in with the set topic, ‘Reflections’. Our website is about reflections in two ways: we start with a  person seeing their reflection in some water and then we reflect, or think back, about what life was like for an ancient Egyptian pharaoh.
3. Next, we all had to search in books and the Internet to gain information for our website.
4. After that, we worked out what jobs everyone could do to make the website.
5. The fifth step was that we had to use the information we had gathered and write it in our own words under the heading/headings we were given.
6. After we had written all of our information we chose what website background we wanted. We saved it and put all of our information onto the website.
7. We put a blue Scarab Beetle on every page because in Ancient Egypt it is a sign of good luck.
8. We checked our work and uploaded it to the Internet.

People Contacted and Copyright

We searched for information on the Internet and in books. We sent emails to people to ask if we could use information from their web sites. Many of them said no because of copyright.

We thank Kythera Ann from Crystal Cloud Graphics for giving us permission to use all the things on her website. We made her a promise that we would put a link to her website and we stuck to that promise and here is the link http://graphics.elysiumgates.com/egypt.html

Our hieroglyphics came from http://www.discoveringegypt.com We thank Mark Millmore for letting us use his work.

We also found some of our pictures from a website with free graphics.

We did not talk to anyone from our community about this website because it was all from research. Here are the websites and other information we used for research:
