To stay safe, remember these points:

Be careful who you trust online. If you are talking to someone you don't know, they might be lying about information they give out.
Meeting someone you only know through chat rooms can be dangerous.
Stay in charge in chat.
Check your profile and make sure it doesn't contain personal information.
Get away from an unpleasant situation in a chat room by logging out, blocking or turning of the monitor.
Think before you answer private messages.
Never use your real name in a chart room. Use a nickname.
Tell your parent or carer if something happens that you don't like.
If someone sends you a picture you don't like, turn of the monitor quickly and tell an adult (parent, carer, teacher)
Remember, you can block someone if you don't feel comfortable talking to them. It's OK, they won't get mad, they will just think you've gone offline.
