NEVER give out any personal information.

If you don't know the person you are chatting to, then don't add them to your contacts or buddies list.

If you receive any abusive messages then don't reply.

Delete messages you receive from people you don't know.

If you feel uncomfortable or sad online tell a responsible adult about what happened to you.

In chat room NEVER use your real name. Instead use a nickname.

If you keep on getting unwanted junk mail ask a responsible adult to install a filter.

In IM if anyone is getting irritating (doing mean things) block them, or make another account.

Always be careful in what you say in IM and NEVER give out personal information because you never know who you might be chatting to.

NEVER meet a person you meet in IM in real life because you NEVER know who they are.

Don't give a contact to a friend unless you know the contact you are giving to your friend.

If you are unsure what to do if you ask an adult for help
